Making Hay While The Sun Shines

Twilight Series

Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer

Our neighbor to the west, Forks, has taken a bull by the horns that will help transform their out-of-the-way town into a desirable destination for tourists. Business is booming in the small town of Forks, even in the off-season. Any hay farmer knows that the best hay must be baled when the sun is shining and the quality of hay is at its peak. Opportunity only stays around for a short while and then it can be taken away forever.

Forks is the setting of the “Twilight Series”, a series of four novels written by Stephenie Meyer, appealing to many teenagers across the country. These best-selling novels have also put the Olympic Peninsula on the map. The Bella Italia Restaurant here in Port Angeles is mentioned in the book and now enjoys full capacity. Gottschalks, also, has seen an increase in traffic and has rung up more business. The Forks Chamber of Commerce has an excellent website for destination seekers and the buzz is just beginning. Seven thousand fans have made the trek to Forks this past summer. The movie “Twilight” is being released tomorrow (November 21). There hasn’t been such interest in reading by teenagers since the Harry Potter release.
