A Blog is a Public Forum for Discussion
Apparently some folks are missing the whole point of a public blog. Let me share a few thoughts on how I believe blogs produce very helpful dialogue in a community like Port Angeles.
A blog is a place where issues can be raised and discussed. A question might be asked, and others might answer it, or at least take a stab at it. But others might add additional facts or information or opinions that were unknown by the poster or previous commentors.
There seems to be a misconception in Port Angeles that anyone who posts an article must write an encyclopedic history on the subject, leaving nothing out, and accurately conveying every possible fact and all legal issues. If that were the case, there would never be a healthy exchange of information on so many important subjects to Port Angeles. A blog like this is an intelligent and honest effort to get all the facts out, and it is a public forum for discussion by anyone. It is definitely not intended to be a wikipedia.
When someone writes a post, and someone else with special knowledge about the subject knows more and can add to the knowledge base for everyone, then by all means write a comment and publish it on the blog. This helps everyone. Do not assume everyone else has your specialized knowledge.
If you love our community, and you want to make a contribution, please do. But do so by publishing your comments. We welcome all contributions, and you definitely do not have to be a professional author to write a comment.
This blog is open for the average business owner in Port Angeles, or any citizens of Port Angeles (or anywhere) who would like to share their thoughts and opinions about Port Angeles. No one must be perfect to blog here. Thank God.
